Today was our turn to bring a snack for school so we decided to make oatmeal raisin cookies, spent two days expounding the joys of sharing such wonderful fare with her classmates, friends. Oh my, she was so proud carrying that box of cookies! Kind of like in the picture. That smile was spread across her face the moment we pulled into the parking lot, while walking across the parking lot, and through the front door of the school. But as she came within sight of her classroom door, she literally turned and tried to run, smile gone. I managed to drag her into the room, however, and after our own potty break (without the other students), I again had to have one of the teachers hold her as we took leave. But today her protests didn't seem as violent, no screaming at least, only a few tears – and Miss April reported that it lasted but a few minutes; some of the other moms told me they hadn't seen her crying when they were there to drop their respective kids off. And milestone of milestones (for us anyway), Miss April told us that G used the big potty! (She told Daddy over the phone that she was "a big girl".)
But probably the biggest pleasant shocker was how she behaved the entire rest of the day. From the moment she set foot in the house, she went around picking up toys and books and put them away – without being asked! She didn't once make BB cry by picking on her or taking something away from her. And during BB's nap, she was quieter than even a mouse so that even I managed a few winks. I had to wonder to myself: did I bring someone else's kid home from school? (AhPoh says that G's inner angel decided to come out.) We were just so pleased with her behavior today that the entire family – we picked Drew up from work – went to China-Mart and got her a present: a princess coloring/sticker book.
