Greek Plate
Drew and I (and J) on our anniversary date. We had lunch at Greek House in Norman; then we drove over to Blanchard, Newcastle, and Mustang to see the other houses we'd considered buying.

Cookie Decorating
At neighbors house, they had all the sprinkles! Followed by several rounds of hide-and-seek, always more fun at someone else's house with new hiding opportunities.

Back to Taipei
Heading back to Taipei, they stopped at a rather large soy operation that made tofu, tofu skins, and soy milk; having some of their soy skin as a snack; and a cockatoo that someone raised from an egg, nine years.

Day 1
G's first stop is Hsinchu, staying with San YeePoh, who lives in the same building as Er YeePoh (who regaled them with tasty treats). They did some window shopping in the afternoon (to ward off jetlag) and generally tried to stay awake.

11-Layers
Skirt I made for her. Matches one I made for BB.
Lego set from the younger kids.
Ukelele kit. Took us a few days to assemble and stain. Thought she might like to stencil something to the body, but she decided not to. Stringing the thing was an educational experience for me, got some basics off YouTube.
Book of Disney songs from BB.
Eleven-layer jello "cake" (aka monstronsity) that she made herself over the course of two days. Also had failed first jello cake for breakfast – yes, some of us are a little sick of jello right now.

New Year's Food
Happy Chinese New Year! I made almost-gua bao, scallion pancakes, green beans, and dumplings (from frozen that AhPoh made).

Saint Lucy
This year Saint Lucy served a delicious chocolate babka. We liked it so much, we might very well have it again for Christmas morning.

Plucking a Wild Duck
Drew and I at a Field to Fork class on waterfowl by the Dept of Conservation. A presenter discussed bird calls, hunting, identification, and cleaning; area chefs prepped several dishes – a confit on flatbread, duck and pork sausage, duck breast with huckleberry sauce, and a kind of duck jambalaya without the rice (cassoulet) – for class attendants to taste. After class, those who wanted to could pluck and clean a duck, and take it home to eat. And that's what we have, a mallard hen to be precise, in our fridge!
