Art Class II

G needed a second day in the studio to finish her tree watercolor. (Above, with San YeePoh and AhPoh.) In reading her daily journals, it seems a bit of a revelation for her to use so many different colors, not just brown, on the trunk.

Chatting with some fellow students.

Art Class

G spending a couple days (and nights) in Hsinchu with San YeePoh. They have a well-respected art teacher there – my cousin Amber took classes from her for years, and San YeePoh is a current student – G's taking some classes, above, using watercolors.

p.s. Earlier in the week G "survived" her third typhoon (Megi) in two weeks!

Homemade Slippers

G and BB spent all afternoon constructing these. They sandwiched some cardboard in between some felt and a broken binder cover (purple). Unfortunately super glue leaked through and left those powdery white spots on G 's slippers, so they determined that hot glue was much better for their purposes.

11-Layers

Skirt I made for her. Matches one I made for BB.

Lego set from the younger kids.

Ukelele kit. Took us a few days to assemble and stain. Thought she might like to stencil something to the body, but she decided not to. Stringing the thing was an educational experience for me, got some basics off YouTube.

Book of Disney songs from BB.

Eleven-layer jello "cake" (aka monstronsity) that she made herself over the course of two days. Also had failed first jello cake for breakfast – yes, some of us are a little sick of jello right now.

Paintings

Girls won these paintings at Coronation fish fry silent auction. Kind of fun to have hand-painted (not print) artwork. Did some research, these are likely student reproductions. (Amusing article about Henry Rogers paintings, segue into artist Caroline Burnett, which is the name on G's painting.)

Road Trip!

Lunch and afternoon at MO Star Quilt Company. My favorite fabric was the pirate charm pack by Riley Blake.
