Saint Mary Guest House, Hanceville

After our swim, we packed our things and headed to Graceland, home of the King. There was a lot to see, unfortunately, too much for the likes of us, i.e. minor Elvis fans, so we kept to the house tour, which includes a number of other buildings on the property;

a pool/garden area, which is also Elvis's final resting place;

a gallery of all the vehicles that Elvis ever drove or rode in (in movies);

and two planes.

A shorter day of travel put us down in Hanceville, AL, just north of Birmingham, and the home of the monastery that Mother Angelica built. Originally, we had booked our entire journey to stay at Marriotts, but canceled our reservations hours before departure, which we wouldn't have discovered this little gem of a guest house in the middle-of-nowhere. It was just perfect for us – maybe the only thing lacking was a pool.
