This is a conglomeration post, a collection of the happenings of the last couple days.
Saturday ---
The house had two showings, one in the morning, one in the afternoon, so we had to make ourselves scarce all day, which wasn't so hard in hindsight. We spent the morning at the Briarcliff Nell Hill's, which is a local home decorating store that Elizabeth's been telling me about. The girls were a little bored with the walking around – it was right before lunch and they were "starving" –, and I told them, "When you get older, you're going to love coming to places like these."
In the afternoon, we attended Francesca's princess birthday party – she's the one in the dark purple dress, long blonde hair in the top picture; the cherub in the light blue dress is her younger sister Gianna –, where we got to make crowns,
play with acorns (while the older girls played Kiss the Frog, a version of pin the tail on the donkey),
and a damsel-in-distress game, with two of F's older sisters acting as a dragon and a knight. The knight would "freeze" the dragon for five seconds while all those princesses struggled to get out of the castle and to the safe zone at the front door. Afterward, the royalty dined on pink cupcakes (with pink frosting) and pink lemonade in dainty teacups (and their pinkies raised).
Sunday ---
On the way to mass, we came upon the scene of an accident: a motorcyclist had wiped out after either hitting a deer or narrowly missing it. Neither Drew nor I actually saw the incident since we were three cars back – and I was looking in my purse at the time –, but we stopped nonetheless, as the motorcyclist was sprawled across both lanes of traffic, and called the police. Of course the girls had a million questions as we waited. Two policemen were first on the scene – with their sirens wailing and lights flashing – in about two minutes, and a minute later we had a firetruck and an ambulance: the girls were simply in awe. We were allowed to leave as they were administering First Aid to the cyclist, who though conscious wasn't moving, probably a prudent thing.
The house had two showings, both in the late morning, so we stopped at a new(?) place in Independence for lunch after mass.
Monday ---
I saw a beautiful blue jay checking our feeder out this morning. I hope he comes back soon, or at least before we move, so I can get a better look at him.
