While I'm on the subject of Moon Marble, Drew pointed out a new (to me) game to me: Shut the Box. (Play it here.) Historically, it's supposedly been popular with sailors and fisherman, which got me to thinking about the Aubrey-Maturin series that I'm about to start rereading, mostly for the naval battles. (Last week we were discussing what movies would be fun to watch on our new projection screen entertainment center and Master and Commander was one of the names that came up, along with Pirates of the Caribbean and the Back to the Future trilogy.) Though I'm not a big fan of sailing/boating – I get seasick –, I'm rather intrigued by nautical stuff. So this game fits right in with all that. Incidentally, this game also got me to thinking about pub games in general.
