I won't lie to you, this L&D was close on horrible. It was a number of things together, and I lost control of my pain management: I freaked out. Like BB and Z before her, M's birth came quickly and caught the hospital staff off guard, so that no one was there to catch her. M weighed 7 lbs 10 oz, the heaviest of all the girls, and has the darkest Mongolian spot. She was born rooting and took to nursing really well, though we spent two fussy (and painful) nights waiting for my milk to come in.
Considering the (very brief) time between my water breaking and M's birth and the chances of her contracting GBS without my having received antibiotics, the various docs agreed that she would probably be fine, but because of one slightly abnormal reading on her blood culture, they decided to be safe and give her a course of antibiotics. Hence, the IV in her hand.
In the evening after dinner, Drew and AhPoh brought the girls by to meet their new sister. G was/is absolutely enamored as she was with all her younger sisters (as babies): she'll sit reading to them, talking to them when their eyes are open, fetching anything that they might need like diapers, blankets or pacifiers. Of course when G and BB realized that all M does is sleep, they wanted to turn the TV on. (The coolest new-to-me feature was the private jacuzzi tub.) Z naturally was a little stand-off-ish with the whole situation, unsure of what to make of the baby.
