Purim: Feeling Our Jewish Roots

A couple weeks ago, I happened to read the story of Esther in our new book of bible stories and at the end it suggested making hamantaschen. Since I didn't know what hamantaschen were, I did a little research and voila! Pastries! To commemorate Purim, a kind of Jewish Mardi Gras, which incidentally starts at sundown today. If you're looking for a reason to celebrate during these Forty Days, here it is. So I'm making said hamantaschen – I can't decide whether to follow this recipe or that – with the girls, with mostly fruit-fillings, such as apricot, a little lingonberry, strawberry, and chocolate chips and Nutella.
