I'm told by our therapists – and I heard somewhere else once before – that this is a rather popular pig [updated] e.g. with autistic and down syndrome kids. We used it rather heavily in our back-to-back sessions yesterday: the PT used its colorful coins and music to entice Z to cruise up and down the couch, while the OT was impressed by Z's ability to get the coins into the slot, even using her LH to maneuver the pig so that the RH could get the coin in. When I bought the pig for BB (partially to replace the shape sorter that so frustrated G as a baby), it took her awhile to get her fine movements well enough to get the coins in, whereas Z seems born with the skill.
Do you like the little head bob? It's Z's way of dancing to the music. And if you're wondering what's going on in the background, G and BB are playing with one of those stomp rockets, which is great with vaulted ceilings.
[Updated] Assignment PT: Encouraging Z to bend over (from standing) to pick items up as opposed to the current sitting all the way down; continue cruising; and next time the PT will loan us a walking toy that she particularly likes.
