Defend Us in Battle

St Michael the Archangel is one of the newest parishes in the KC area – on the Kansas side. Some of the sidewalks and touch-up painting isn't even complete yet. We went to mass there on Sunday just to see.

Z standing at the pretty and plush pew. During mass she inched her way along – yes, while standing! –, down and back, a couple times.

Can you pick out the statue of St Michael in the background? This picture looks onto the school, which is positioned across the courtyard from the church. It was really wonderful to see the Roman(?) style architecture, the traditional cross-shaped floor plan – I don't go in for half-circle stadium seating –, soaring ceilings, lots of marble and granite everywhere. And maybe because St Michael's is in affluent Leawood, I noticed significantly more khakis and polos, and nice dress in comparison with the predominance of blue jeans and T-shirts at our parish.
