Self-Dosing

Back in November, we took the girls to an herbal doc, who prescribed them a week's worth of medicine each for various ailments/general health concerns. The powdered Rx now come in these handy little single dose tear-off packets – I've been told that the machine that does the packaging is pretty neat to watch –, where you used to have to boil your lot of dried herbs in water, stinking up your entire house, and then choke down the bitter concoction. (Capsules of the powder are also available, but the powdered form is supposedly not as potent as the brew.) With the powdered herbs, it was still quite the production, mixing up four packets after every meal (and M refused to take hers at all after a couple days), with a bit of sugar syrup and water into a paste. After awhile, the older two started asking if they could mix their own medicine and fairly raced through meals in order to do so. You'd think they almost enjoyed dosing themselves like that, they were disappointed when they finally ran out of medicine. Except at our follow-up appts, the herbal doc prescribed another week's worth.

AhPoh took G to a local herbalist this afternoon, she's been coughing (and AhPoh nearly lost her voice), we're trying to get back in shape for our flight at the end of the month. First thing after dinner, G asked if she could mix her medicine, look how happy she is to be back at it again.
