After nearly six days of fevered searching, combing the mats and upholstery of the car with a flashlight; down on hands and knees in the Panera parking lot; applying to every important saint on the matter: St Anthony, the Virgin Mary, etc.; turning the house upside down no less than three times; putting in a call to the police department, we've finally located Drew's wedding ring, a large lumpish thing not unlike the one that Frodo carried sans secret elvish writing. He first misplaced it on Monday morning when he took it off to knead some bread dough, thinking that he had put it in the pocket of his Carhartts. Afterward he'd gone to Panera, and we feared that the ring might have fallen out of his pocket and so to the ground, possibly picked up, worse, not turned in or pawned. Drew was pretty distraught the first couple of days, and rightly so. But then this morning, he'd put on his comfy pants and found them in a pocket of the pocket. At first he couldn't believe what he was feeling, but slowly the happy realization was not to be kept down and he triumphantly presented me with his ringed hand after breakfast.
