...And It Just Gets Better

Drew's feeling better, although he's still taking occasional doses of the codeine cough syrup to keep his coughing fits under control. (The Tamiflu must have been giving him the headaches; the codeine makes his ears ring.) Yesterday he was up and about, taking boxes down to the garage, making trips to donate our non-perishable food items, fixing things. But last night G woke up with the dreaded croupy cough. She'd been having the dry hacks so I guess it was just a matter of time – and maybe it was my fault for keeping her out a little too late at a friend's birthday party. So we figured the best thing would be to take her into the pediatrician to get some advice, and turns out she's got borderline influenza (via a nasal swab). We got the typical treatment course: lots of fluids, lots of rest, baby Motrin for aches and discomfort, cough syrup at night if needed. It's not much, but kids are definitely resilient little things. Usually all it takes for G is a lot more sleep and a lot of canceled activities.
