I got a bit side tracked in finishing out the Florida road trip series...
So we left off in St Louis:
the next morning we packed the car – the girls watching through the window (above), waiting for Drew to retrieve the car from a nearby parking garage – and headed for mass at the Cathedral.
We visited the gift shop and had donuts, before changing our clothes for the Missouri History Museum's Vatican Splendors exhibit.
The exhibit contained art pieces, like paintings, portions of frescoes and statues, which chronicled the history of the Vatican, from the church that originally occupied that spot to present-day St Peter's Basilica. Included were a handful of items, such as a reliquary containing some two dozen saints, that have never been displayed outside of the Vatican before. Unfortunately, the place was quite crowded, so I didn't have a chance to read most of the plaques.
We stopped for lunch in one of St Louis's suburbs, and arrived home in a few short hours. The End.
