Two rather exhausting (for me) weeks of summer camp and a wedding extravaganza, you can imagine I was looking forward to a quiet 4th of July week.
On Monday, we attended a seeing-eye service dog talk at the library. Fascinating stuff, including how dogs are trained for an owner's living situation, e.g. city vs country; how/where the dog travels on cars and planes; that the dog eats and uses the bathroom on a set schedule; how a blind person picks up dog poop.
We laid around.
Z exchanged for new-new glasses that actually fit: the frames are smaller, narrower at the bridge, and have cable temples so they wrap more comfortably around the back of the ear. Still have trouble keeping them on her face, esp when she's outside or playing, but at least she's wearing them more.
We set off fireworks in the driveway on Tuesday and Wednesday evening; saw the county's fireworks display at Longview.
Did some yard work (Drew took Thursday and Friday off, yay five-day weekend!): ate baby carrots from our garden, cursed the deer a bit while we were at it.
Kept cool despite insane temperatures and water restrictions. Stripped the paint on a couple of windows (will take care of the rest some other weekend), and repainted them.
