Still Holding On

M2 and baby doll still going strong, more so than either the bear or the dog. Interestingly, she doesn't get upset if she leaves/forgets the baby doll somewhere, but if it's within her sight, she's incredibly territorial about it. We've had to take that baby doll everywhere with us.

Laundry Necklace

Kids this age are such style gurus wearing Mom's clean underwear around their neck like that. :)

Sushi Rolls

BB made these for lunch one day. Everyone loved them.

Maiden Snowflake

Still needs to be starched, about 6 in / 15 cm across. Didn't quite turn out like picture though, even I had correct thread and hook size. I wonder if I should have done something different.

Zorro Was Here

First there was M dressed up as Zorro at Halloween. Then there were the paper notes signed with a "Z" scattered about the house; the arguments about what Z really stands for, name of 3rd or name of 4th in persona Zorro. There were the regular sword fights using sticks around the yard, the time Z and M used dirty knives from the dinner table.

But the last straw in our family Zorro mania was when someone who shall remain nameless (G) started scratching Zs in the wood.

Repeat Hair

G had hair exactly like this: forever matted in the back, curly wispy and wild in the front. I love that neither G nor M cares that it looks like that.

Tea Set

Little trip to Half Priced Books to spend gift card G had. BB brought some money too and bought this porcelain tea set.

Show and Tell

I finished this crochet granny square blanket for goddaughter over the weekend.

Mono-colored squares have added ruffles for some texture. Squares are connected using a flat braid join, which came together really quickly once I figured out how the corners were done.

Edged entire blanket using a pretty star/marguerite stitch.

Nine, Oh My

Here's a mind blowing thought that Drew brought up last month: this ninth year of G's life is the halfway point of her time at home with us (assuming she heads straight off to college at eighteen). !!!

Her birthday meal: tuna melts, crash potatoes, and kale. Requested cake: white vanilla with blueberry cream cheese frosting.

This is what M did throughout dinner and cake.

BB gave G a homemade jump rope.

And she also got this beginner's weaving loom.

There was some celebratory dancing afterward.
