Symphony
People's Concert at the Kauffman Center with our homeschooling group last week. This year's theme was animal species (e.g. bears, cats, orangutan, rhino, butterflies, birds) and symphonic pieces that sounded like those animals. Appropriate for our visit to the Omaha zoo over the weekend.

Omaha
Met two of Drew's sisters halfway in Omaha.
Breakfast at Bailey's (X with Aunt Maria, above), their specialty seems to be eggs Benedict. I had the avocado crab Benedict, the crab meat was real, the hollandaise could have been brighter.
Spent the day at the Omaha zoo, our first visit. (Ran into our old pediatrician and her family.) Saw the Desert Dome (okay), really impressed with their Kingdoms of the Night exhibit, well-executed, located underneath the "desert".
Went through the Cat Complex, and the Orangutan Forest. (Read an interesting story about one of their past orangutans Fu Manchu.)
Early dinner at the Spaghetti Works, which had one of those balloon makers. (She wasn't as good as some of the ones we've seen, not the worst.)
Celebration of Christie's birthday next week.
Candy treats for finding animals (at the zoo) with the word "dragon" in their name.

The Scott Aquarium had some really nice bits, like the shark tunnel. The butterfly pavilion (so-so: the one in Sioux Falls is much better) and the gift shop were our last stops.

Next in Line
Seems M just got done wearing this red dress, it was one of her favorites. Now it seems to be M2's favorite.

Cricket
Don't know what put it in her head, BB wanted to catch a cricket. I told her to check in the garden, in the compost bins, esp in the entryway, which tends to be a popular insect hangout. After she'd given up the search, I happened to spot one in the garage. It took three of them: G to hold the bucket, M to shoo it in, and BB to stand by saying "eww".

Our Lady of the Rosary
Celebrated with a special rosary: chocolate chip Hail Marys, almond Our Fathers, raisins for crucifix. I, for one, wished there were more almonds. Next year we'll plan for more savory bits.

Homeownership
Been raining quite a bit lately, leak in the finished part of the basement. Not new problem though as disclosed by previous owners, supposedly fixed. Hoping that leaking isn't major issue, merely water being wicked away from wall by insulation and ending up on carpet. Still and all, had to rip away part of the wall to deduce that.
