Third Day of Christmas

A little more difficult (than Busytown), G enjoyed this one.

Got this idea from a fellow homeschooling mom: going without electricity on winter solstice. (Cheated a bit with central heating and the two times we opened the fridge.) The day seemed incredibly short, trying to get everything done and dinner prepared before it got dark. Which it wasn't authentically dark when you consider all the neighbors' Christmas lights.

The girls loved going by candle light. The Sisters at our parish liked the idea and donated former altar candles to our purpose.

Watching caveman TV, went to bed early.

Second Day of Christmas

BB's crying because we went to a lot of trouble to get ready – and then we couldn't find her gloves. We'd had them just the day before, so someone walked off with them. (Some days later I found them stashed behind the book bin.) M slipped right outside the door and wanted to come in. G and Z spent more than an hour outside.

Whipped these up last night, M2's Christmas gift. Not the best colors: because it was the tail end of a sale, or because a bad style year? Didn't bother with sizing the cuff, so the older girls can wear them as well.

On the First Day of Christmas

Had a small Christmas dinner at our house with Elizabeth, and Emily and Chris in attendance. Played with our new dreidel afterward, G was the winner.
